Updates

The app updates itself. What that means for you.

RealFrame checks for a newer build when it starts, and replaces itself. You visit the download page once.

What happens

  1. It asks if there is a newer build.
  2. It downloads it and checks it is intact.
  3. The new version runs next time you open the app.

A session already running is never cut off.

Check your version

The app shows its version. The dashboard shows what each computer last reported, on the Devices page. That is the fast way to spot a machine sitting on an old build.

Keep both ends close

A small version gap is fine. A big one is worth fixing before you debug anything else. Restart the app on both sides. That is the whole job.

Turning it off

Managed fleets can pin a version with a setting, listed in the settings reference.

A pinned build never improves

Whatever it shipped with, it keeps. Set a date to unpin it.
