Account safety
Passwords, tokens, and what to do when a laptop goes missing.
Passwords
Your password protects the account: the computer list, adding new ones, and billing. Use a long unique one from a password manager.
Changing it does not sign existing computers out. Each one holds its own token. That is why the order below matters.
Tokens
Every signed-in app holds its own token in the system keychain. It presents that instead of your password.
Remove a device in Devices to revoke it. It disappears from your list, frees the plan slot, and the coordinator stops brokering connections for it. This works whether or not the machine is online.
If a computer is lost or stolen
Remove the device
Do this first. It revokes the enrolment, so nothing will broker a connection to or from it.
Change your password
So nobody can sign back in.
Check the lists
Users for people who should not be there, and Activity for anything odd.
Clear its pinned trust, if you reuse the machine
The remembered-pairings file is separate from the account. See trusted viewers.
Good habits
- Name computers honestly, so a strange one stands out.
- Remove them when they leave, not when you run out of slots.
- Give the smallest role that works.
- Glance at Activity now and then.
Reporting something
