Clipboard
Copy on one computer, paste on the other.
Text you copy on either computer shows up on the other, both ways, while the session is open. Nothing to switch on.
Copy a path on your laptop, paste it into a far terminal. Copy an error message from over there, paste it into a chat here.
What crosses
| Crosses | |
|---|---|
| Plain text | Yes |
| Formatted text | Yes, as plain text |
| Files and folders | No |
| Images | No |
There is no file transfer yet. Copying a file will not move it.
How it behaves
The two clipboards are matched by content, so copying the same thing twice does not loop, and a change on one side does not stomp a newer one on the other.
It runs while the session is open and stops when it ends. Nothing is stored anywhere. It travels inside the locked session, so a relay cannot read it.
It can be turned off on the computer being shared. See the settings reference.
When it does not work
- Reconnecting. It resumes when the dot is green.
- A slow app. Some apps hand over the clipboard late. Copy again.
- You copied something that is not text. See the table.
Watch out with passwords
Anything you copy is briefly on both computers. Type passwords on the far computer instead, or use a password manager over there.
